We are a Pivot Point International member school.  Pivot Point is an internationally known cosmetology college located near Chicago, Illinois.  The foundation of this education is the Scientific Approach, developed by Pivot Point founder and Chairman Leo Passage.  Mr. Passage was influenced by the Bauhaus, one of the most celebrated art schools of modern times.  Like the Bauhaus, Pivot Point training crafts people to elevate their skills to a higher level of creativity.  For over 40 years, Pivot Point International has been recognized as the world leader in cosmetology.  Many of our nations top designers have been Pivot Point educated.  Its training system has been translated into 8 languages and is used in over 2,000 schools and graduate centers in 49 countries.

Course Offered:

COSMETOLOGY WITH MANICURING

The Phase One Basic Training portion of the course is a 1500 hour program of training requiring approximately 9 months at full-time and 15 months at part-time. Each unit of study will be covered in both theoretical and practical training.

    * Course Goals
      The course of study is designed to prepare the student to successfully pass the Licensing Exam required by the State Board of Cosmetology in the State of Missouri only, and to offer the student basic entry skills for profitable employment in the field of cosmetology dealing with hair, nails and face.

    * Course Format
      The Phase One portion of the course will be primarily all classroom study, in theory and practice of basic skills necessary to train in the clinic floor setting. Students in basic training will not work on clinic floor until completing 160 hours of basic training and passing both theory and pratical requirements. The Pivot Point module Salon Fundamentals is thoroughly utilized, as well as the entire Seven Scientific Approach Modules.  The Scientific Approach is a unique theory that blends and applies artistic and scientific principles to hair.  The Seven Modules as are follows: Long Hair Design, Hair Sculpture for Ladies, Hair Sculpture for Men, Hair Design, Texture Design, and Color Design

    * The Advanced Theory and Clinic Training portion of the course consists primarily the development of all necessary pratical skills, supplemented with classroom lectures, demonstrations, tests and review in all subject areas teaching methods. The Pivot Point modules Salon Fundamentals and Scientific Approach are used.

    * Educational Objectives
      Cosmetology with Manicuring is offered by all Colleges to prepare students for the Licensing Examination required by the Board of Cosmetology for the State of Missouri only. Additionally, the College provides every opportunity for the student to gain sufficient entry skills for the professional cosmetology market.

The Cosmetology with Manicuring Course will prepare the student for employment opportunities as a hair colorist, hairstyllist, permanent wave technician, manicurist or sales representative.

Placement Assistance

The School does not, by law, guarantee job placement. The staff and faculty does make every effort to assist graduates of the school in securing employment in the field. This assistance is provided in the form of a Unit of Instruction relating to Job Search, as well as assistance to the individual student in coordinating job interviews in response to incoming requests from salon and business owners in the surrounding area.

The curriculum we use for this area of training is Pivot Point Salon Success. Salon Success is a learning guide for career advancement.  It takes a targeted approach to teaching the core principles of Life Skills and Guest Relations for students of cosmetology, esthetics, and nails.
