Large Beauty School Chain Stages Expo

One perk you get from enrolling in a cosmetology school associated with a large chain is the opportunity to attend huge events. A good example is coming up on June 8, when

nearly 2,000 students from 88 Empire Beauty Schools all over the country will gather in Hershey, Pennsylvania, for the 2009 Future Professionals Expo. Competitions in hair, nails and makeup will give the students a chance to win prizes for their new skills. A trade show will offer workshops in the latest techniques, information on products and breaking industry news. By networking with professionals in the beauty salon industry, Empire students can gain a competitive edge in the job market.

This is just an example of what’s out there for you. As you consider where you want to attend, I urge you to look at small, independently owned cosmetology schools as well as educational facilities that are part of a bigger organization. Ask the administrators about the support provided for attending industry events, even if they’re not sponsored by the school the way this expo is. Small schools are great, too, and you should explore all of your options before deciding on the right school for you.
