I want to become a nail technician, is traditional cosmetology school right for me?

In my opinion, no. Traditional cosmetology schools programs do contain a nail portion, and a cosmetology license does include becoming a licensed nail tech but the learning portion in the program may not be sufficient enough to fit all your education needs. There are trade colleges where their primary focus is nails alone and can better educate you on newest trends and techniques. If you’re interested in more information click here.

I want to become a make up artist but want to also focus on movie/special effects make-up, where should I go?

There are great cosmetology schools that offer a make-up program that can teach you many new and trendy techniques to make anyone beautiful, but I haven’t heard of one that will also offer movie make-up. I would look into specific schools with a primary focus with movie and special effects make-up as their target, if that would be your main interest for your education.

Do all schools offer a study abroad program?

No. That should be something you ask you’re prospective school to make sure of, and in my opinion should be a must. Studying abroad was one of the biggest highlights of being a student. Make sure when you have a school in mind that you check the program and see what extracurriculars they offer, ask questions! Studying abroad for school is a fantastic way to boost your resume and give you as a professional more credibility.
